Every close is its own "deal" — so a customer who buys twice gets two deals (and two commissions). Here's the right way.
Steps
- 01
Record the deal value
Lead details›Deal valueLead details → Deal value → Add products & value. In Edit deal value pick a Deal type:
- One-time deal — enter the Amount.
- Retainer — enter the Monthly amount (annual value = monthly × 12).
Optionally add an Internal note.
- 02
Mark it "Closed"
Change the status to Closed. If the quote has both a one-time price and a retainer, you'll be asked "Which track closed?" — choose One-time deal or Monthly retainer.
You should see: Close chance jumps to 100% and the commission is calculated automatically. - 03
Customer buying again? Open a new deal
On a closed lead: Lead details → Deals → New deal. Confirm with Open new deal.
You should see: The lead goes back to New as "Sales round 2". The previous deal and its commission stay untouched.Note: Don't move a closed lead back to "New" via status to sell again — that undoes the previous close. Use New deal only. - 04
Fixing a closing date (managers)
In the Deals table, the pencil Change closing date moves the close date. Commissions and reports move with it.
Future dates aren't allowed; an already approved or paid commission is flagged for review.Note: Managers only.
Questions
Deal value vs net profit?
Deal value = what the customer pays. Net profit = value minus acquisition cost.
My commission didn't update.
Commissions follow the company's commission rules. If no rule matches you, your admin needs to set one. See Commissions.
